Middlesbrough v Leeds United preview

We travel to Middlesbrough this evening, knowing that if we win, regardless of the Fulham result we will retain our 5-point cushion over 3rd place.

A statement that indicates just how unpredictable the Championship is, with both Brentford and Preston dropping vital points yesterday. If ever there was a season to finally get out of this league, this is it, results are going for us and we need to take advantage.

Middlesbrough are currently 21st  in the league and head into this game in a poor run of form, taking just 3 points  from their last 6 league games. The players and Woodgate are fighting for Championship survival and consequently I expect tonight to be a strong test for us.

Perhaps a strange occurrence for Leeds United, we don’t know for certain who Bielsa’s starting XI will be, with both Casilla and Philips sustaining injuries during the Reading game.

Bielsa stating in his press conference that he is optimistic they will play but there are no guarantees. A first team start for Illan Messlier could well be on the cards.

Middlesbrough are plagued by injuries of their own and will be without three of their key players in Danial Ayala, Dael Fry and Patrick Roberts.

In the last 3 games, Leeds United have showed what we are about, we do not give up. With 7 points from a possible 9, I believe we are now through the worst of our difficult mid-season period.

Whilst the game tonight will no doubt prove a challenge, I believe Bielsa and the players will rise to it and make it a winning Wednesday.

In Bielsa and his boys we trust.
