Millwall, Always Millwall
Despite the midweek win, I didn’t have a good feeling in the lead up to this game, simply because it was Millwall away and our injury list seemed to be mounting up.
We were doomed on 14 minutes when Gaetano was sent off, wrongly in my opinion. Kalvin was there as cover so it wasn’t a clear and obvious goal scoring opportunity and also, he didn’t touch him!!
It took us a while to settle after that but we eventually did and had plenty of the ball, we just couldn’t finish off the chances. It’s that final ball again, where are you Pablo?
We didn’t create enough space up front, a feature since Roofe left as he could drag defences around and we haven’t found a way to recreate that yet this season.
Helder Costa didn’t have the greatest impact as a starter, I think he has looked better coming on as a sub so far but this game wasn’t really one for him and going down to 10 men didn’t help.
Alioski got the goal 16 seconds into second half and he worked hard throughout the game, he divides opinion but I’m very much a fan and like him in a more attacking role.
We had a few more chances in the second half and showed a real fighting spirit but couldn’t get the equaliser and we left London empty handed.
We’re still in the mix though and whilst international breaks are not always a good thing I think it’s a blessing for us at the moment, time to regroup, appeal the red card, get Pablo fit and go again.
