Carabao Cup action

Preview: Leeds United v Hull City

This evening sees the return of Carabao Cup action with Hull City the visitors to Elland Road for the second round tie.

Championship rivals last year, there is now a division between the two sides following Hull’s relegation to League One.

This isn’t a cup which Leeds have had much success and for the past two years have exited at this stage to Preston and Stoke respectively.

Without the pressure of securing promotion, we can hopefully enjoy a cup run this season and Marcelo Bielsa can use it to rotate his team over the long season ahead.

Liam Cooper is likely to return to the side after missing Saturday’s opener against Liverpool with a calf injury. We may also see starts for Gjanni Alioski, Tyler Roberts and Rodrigo, who were all substitutes during the game at Anfield.

Hull are coming into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Gillingham and are likely to make changes themselves with new signing Alfie Jones looking for his first start following his move from Southampton.

Wednesday night lights await.
